Located in Portland’s Dunthorpe neighborhood, the renovation of this private residence focused on two highly personal areas of the home: the kitchen and the primary suite. The design process moved through several iterations, allowing the team and owner to test layout, materials, storage, and detailing options before arriving at a direction that felt both refined and connected to the character of the existing house.
The kitchen renovation was designed to feel both warm and highly functional. The plan includes a large island, 48-inch range, dedicated pantry storage, refrigerator and freezer columns, coffee area, and dishwasher creating a room that supports daily use while still feeling generous and composed. The design draws from a classic European- and Mediterranean-inspired palette, with exposed wood beams, terracotta-toned flooring, soft green cabinetry, stone counters, open shelving, and carefully placed lighting.
The primary suite work included a reimagined bathroom and closet layout, with detailed attention to storage, circulation, and privacy. The closet design incorporates a mix of hanging options, drawers, and shelving to create a highly organized dressing area. The bathroom pairs green tile, marble-like counters, brass fixtures, a freestanding tub, patterned floor tile, and a glass shower enclosure to create a space that feels bright, tailored, and quietly expressive.
